Can I disable a fulfillment option and only offer one method?

Yes — you can deactivate Local Delivery and offer only Store Pickup and Shipping, or disable any fulfillment method entirely. Bird gives you two ways to control which options appear at checkout:


  • Restrict certain fulfillment methods for specific products
  • Disable certain fulfillment methods entirely


Method 1: Using Product Availability Feature


This feature lets you restrict certain delivery methods, like Shipping or Local Delivery, based on product tags. For detailed instructions on controlling product availability, see our guide on What Is the Difference Between Product Availability and Product Override?.


Steps to Block Fulfillment Options:


  1. Navigate to Pickup & Delivery, Configure locations (based on your schedule settings) or Shipping settings in your Bird app.
  2. Find the Product Availability settings.
  3. Choose how to apply the restriction:
  • Select "Include Specific Products" if only tagged products should allow that delivery method.
  • Select "Exclude Products tagged with" if you want to block the method only for specific tagged products.

Method 2: Enable or Disable a Fulfillment Method Entirely


Use this method when you want to completely turn off a fulfillment method so it doesn't appear in the widget at all. Each method has its own toggle:


Local Delivery


Go to Bird Settings > Configure Locations, open the location, and check or uncheck Enable Local Delivery. If you have multiple locations, repeat this for each one.


Store Pickup


Go to Bird Settings > Configure Locations, open the location, and check or uncheck Enable Store Pickup. If you have multiple locations, repeat this for each one.


Shipping


Go to Bird Settings > Shipping and toggle Standard Shipping on or off.


Note: If you see "Pickup & Delivery" instead of "Configure Locations", you are in legacy mode — Toggle the Local Delivery and Store Pickup from the same menu.



Additional options:


  • You can disable the scheduling widget for a method without fully disabling it by selecting the "No Date & Time" option in that method's availability settings. The method remains available but without a date/time picker.
  • If you are offering multiple fulfillment methods with rates, disabling Shopify's built-in store pickup is recommended to avoid duplicate options at checkout.
