Can I place the date picker on the product page instead of the cart?

We don't recommend using the BirdChime widget on the product page. Shopify orders can include multiple items, and assigning a separate date to each product would create unnecessary complexity for both fulfillment operations and customers.


The checkout process is designed so that each order can only have one delivery or pickup date rather than item-specific dates. To ensure that this date applies to all items consistently, we recommend placing the date selection widget on the cart page, cart drawer, or both instead.


Using the widget at the cart level (cart page, cart drawer, or both) offers several benefits:


  • It simplifies the order data by storing a single delivery or pickup date for the whole order
  • Customers can easily review all products in the order before selecting a preferred date
  • It prevents checkout errors and reduces confusion, especially for stores using dynamic checkout buttons or carts
