How do I customize error messages when mixed carts block checkout?

Customize your validation error messages in Text & Languages settings to guide customers to place separate orders for conflicting items.

Bird App evaluates your entire cart as one unit. It does not split orders. Each order needs one delivery schedule and one fulfillment method. When customers add products with conflicting delivery restrictions, the system blocks checkout.

For example, a "Pickup Only" product mixed with a "Shipping Only" product creates a conflict. Since you cannot set different delivery dates for different products in the same order, customers must place separate orders for items with different fulfillment needs.

Use Product Availability settings to control which products qualify for each fulfillment method. The system checks all cart items against your tag rules. If any product fails the criteria, that fulfillment method becomes unavailable for the entire cart.

When customers cannot checkout due to conflicting products, an error message appears in the cart. Customize this message to guide customers on resolving the conflict.

Customize validation messages to prevent cart abandonment

1. Navigate to Bird App Settings > Text & Languages
2. Click Edit next to your desired language
3. Locate the relevant validation error field: Pick up availability error, Delivery availability error, or Shipping availability error
4. Edit the message text to explain the conflict clearly. For example: "Your cart contains items restricted to different fulfillment types (e.g., Pickup Only and Shipping Only). Please complete your purchase by placing separate orders for these items"
5. Click Save to apply the change
