How do I enable the app and make the widget appear on my store?
Enable the widget through your theme settings in 4 simple steps, then troubleshoot if it doesn't appear.
- Open the Bird App and navigate to Settings → Widget Placement.
- Select your theme from the dropdown menu.
- Click Add widget in theme.
- In the theme editor, enable the app in the app embed section and click Save.
You're done! Add a product to your cart and check the cart page to confirm the widget appears.
If the widget isn't showing, check these common causes:
- App not enabled correctly: Verify you completed all steps above. The app must be enabled in both the settings page and the theme's embed block.
- Customized theme: For highly customized themes, use the manual widget placement setting. In Widget Placement settings, enter the ID or class of your checkout button (e.g.,
#checkout
or.checkout-btn
) to position the widget exactly where you want it. Contact support if you need help identifying the correct selector. - Dynamic/Ajax Carts: Cart drawers or dynamic updates can prevent the widget from appearing. In Widget Placement settings, increase the "reinitialize delay" to give the widget more time to load after cart updates.
