How do I notify customers when their order is ready for pickup?
You can notify customers from either the Bird App dashboard or Shopify admin using the built-in notification system.
Email notifications are only sent if they are enabled in Bird Settings > Notifications. For example, to utilize the "Ready for Pickup" email notifications, make sure to enable them before using these methods.
After setting up the Bird Pickup & Delivery widget on your store, the app provides two simple methods to send "Ready for Pickup" notifications:
From the Bird App Dashboard:
- Go to the Orders page in your Bird App.
- Select the order or multiple orders that are ready.
- Click Mark as ready for pickup. The system automatically sends an email notification to the customer.
From Shopify Admin:
- Navigate to Orders in your Shopify admin and open the specific order.
- Click More Actions and select Bird: Mark Ready.
- Click Mark ready for pickup in the popup. This triggers the customer notification email.

Customize your notification emails to match your brand voice through the email template customization settings. In the Bird App, go to Settings > Notifications, select your template, modify the subject and body, then click Save. Use the Preview button to review changes before applying them.
