How does the app work with Shopify POS, draft orders, or manual orders?
Shopify POS Integration
The Bird Pickup & Delivery app integrates seamlessly with Shopify POS. See our POS integration guide for an overview of how the app works with Shopify POS, and follow our step-by-step setup guide to enable POS functionality.
Staff Workflow:
Staff use dedicated tiles within Shopify POS to manage scheduled orders.
- Scheduling New Orders: Add the "Bird: Order Details (POS UI extension)" tile. Use this tile to select the fulfillment method (Shipping, Delivery, or Pick Up), location, date, and time slot for new orders.
- Managing Existing Orders: Add the "Bird: View Orders (POS UI extension)" tile. Use this tile to view, search, filter, and sort scheduled orders. You can update the order status (Ready, Dispatched, Complete) and edit order details like date, time, and method.
- Notifications: POS receipt emails can display the scheduled date, time, and method if configured in your Shopify admin settings. See our guide on enabling POS order email receipt with slot date and time for setup instructions.
Order Counting:
Orders processed through POS using the Bird App scheduling tile count toward your monthly order limit. See our pricing guide for details on how orders are counted toward your monthly limit.
Draft Orders and Manual Orders
You can create draft orders that include specific delivery or pickup schedules.
Creation Steps (via Bird App):
- Navigate to Orders in the Bird App dashboard.
- Click Create Draft Order.
- Configure details: Select Delivery Method, location, date, and time slot.
- Click Create.
- Finalize the order in Shopify Admin (remove dummy product, add actual products, select customer, collect payment, and click Create order).
For step-by-step instructions, see our guide on creating draft orders with date and time.
Order Counting:
Draft orders count toward your monthly limit if Bird App scheduling details are added and the order is finalized in Shopify.
Invoicing and Documentation:
You can display the delivery date/time on draft order invoices. This requires enabling the "Append Date/Time to order note" option under Bird App Settings > Order Management. Then update your Shopify draft order invoice template to display order notes. For detailed steps, see our guide on adding delivery date/time to draft order invoices.
