Request: Capture Data on Blocked ZIP Codes (Delivery Restrictions)
When ZIP code–based delivery restrictions are enabled, customers who enter an out-of-range ZIP code are currently denied delivery, which is expected. However, we are not capturing any data when this occurs.
It would be helpful to collect and log this information so we can better understand how many potential orders are being lost due to delivery restrictions.
Desired data (at minimum):
- ZIP code entered
- Date/time of the attempt
- Page or step where the restriction occurred
**Nice to have (if feasible): **
- Optional prompt for the user to submit their email or address after being denied
- A simple report or dashboard summarizing how many delivery attempts are blocked by ZIP code
The goal is not to bypass delivery rules, but to quantify lost demand and use that data for future delivery planning and optimization.

Hi, Thank you for sharing this thoughtful suggestion.
You’re absolutely right that when a customer enters a ZIP code outside the delivery range, the request is simply blocked and that interaction isn’t currently captured. We understand how valuable it would be to track these attempts in order to better quantify potential lost demand and evaluate future delivery expansion.
This would indeed be a great addition to the app. Our internal team is already reviewing this idea and collecting the necessary data points to better understand how we could support features like logging blocked ZIP code attempts and providing useful insights around them.
We truly appreciate you bringing this up and explaining the use case so clearly. Feedback like this helps us shape improvements that are genuinely valuable for merchants.
You can track the updates directly on this thread, and will be updated via email at the time, when this request is live in our app.
Warm Regards,
Bird Team
