Store Pickup: Collecting Additional Information from Customers

Collect additional information from customers during pickup checkout, such as pickup notes, collector name, and collector email. Configure optional fields that appear in the pickup section of the widget to gather details about the order or the person picking it up.

Customer Pickup Note

What Customer Pickup Note Does

Adds a text field in the pickup section of the widget where customers can enter special instructions for their pickup orders. Notes appear in order details and can be made required or optional.


Step-by-Step Configuration

  1. Go to Bird Settings > (Advance) > Pickup
  2. Toggle Enable pickup note to ON
  3. Optionally toggle Make pickup note required to ON to force customers to enter a note before checkout
  4. Click Save

That’s it! Customers will now see a note field in the pickup section of the widget.


Collector Name

What Collector Name Does

Adds a name field in the pickup section of the widget where customers can enter the name of the person picking up the order (if different from customer). The name appears in order details for staff reference.

Step-by-Step Configuration

  1. Go to Bird Settings > (Advance) > Pickup
  2. Toggle Enable pickup collector name to ON
  3. Click Save

That’s it! Customers will now see a collector name field in the pickup section of the widget.


Collector Email

What Collector Email Does

Adds an email field in the pickup section of the widget where customers can enter the email address of the person picking up the order. The email appears in order details and can be used for notifications or verification.

Step-by-Step Configuration

  1. Go to Bird Settings > (Advance) > Pickup
  2. Toggle Enable pickup collector email to ON
  3. Select Collectors email field type:
    • Email: Validates email format
    • Text: Allows any text (no validation)
  4. Click Save

That’s it! Customers will now see a collector email field in the pickup section of the widget.

Note: The field is always optional. Email notifications to collectors depend on your notification setup.

Common Questions

What’s the difference between collector name/email and customer pickup note?

  • Collector Name/Email: Collects information about who is picking up the order
  • Customer Pickup Note: Collects special instructions or notes about the order

You can enable all three features together.


Can I use pickup notes instead of Shopify order notes?

Pickup notes are specific to pickup orders while Shopify order notes are general order notes visible across all fulfillment methods.
