FAQs
Can I open a specific date when its weekday is closed?
Holiday lands on a day your store is normally closed? You can still open just that one date for pickup or delivery without changing your base configuration.
Use this for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve, or any public holiday that lands on a day you usually do not operate.
The right method depends on which widget version you are on.
On Widget v2 (recommended)
Widget v2 solves this directly. Open Product Override, drop in the festival date(s), set the hours — your existing weekday rules stay as-is.
- Enable v2: Bird Settings > Widget Placement > Enable v2.
- Go to Product Override > New Override.
- Under Date & Time Override, select Additional Dates.
- Pick the date(s) and set the schedule (operating hours, time slots) you want for those dates.
- Click Save and verify in Widget Preview.
On Widget v1
If you are still on v1, use this workaround: enable the weekday in Configure Availability, then use Blockout Dates to block every other occurrence of that weekday so only the holiday date remains open.
- Go to Bird Settings > Configure Locations > [Your Location].
- Click Edit Settings on the affected method (Store Pickup or Local Delivery).
- In Configure Availability, enable the weekday the holiday falls on. Set operating hours and time slots.
- Scroll to Blockout Dates. Block every upcoming date of that weekday except the holiday date. Cover at least every occurrence inside your Max Available Days window.
- Click Save and verify in Widget Preview.
- After the holiday has passed, return to Configure Availability and disable the weekday again.
