A zone is a place you deliver or ship to: countries and regions, optionally limited to postal codes, cities, a distance from a store or an area on a map. Each zone holds its own rates and product exceptions.

Create a zone

  1. Go to Rates and select Add a zone.
  2. Enter a Name.
  3. Under Countries and regions, select Choose and pick countries. To cover only part of a country, pick its states, provinces or regions.
  4. To narrow it further, choose one option under Limit to (optional). Leave it empty to cover everything you picked.
  5. Select Save.
  6. Under Rates, select Add a rate to give customers in this zone a price.

Limit to postal codes

  1. Under Limit to (optional), choose Postal codes. It uses your country’s word, such as ZIP codes or Postcodes.
  2. Type or paste codes in Include, separated by commas or new lines. Use a dash for a range and * at the end for every code starting with the same characters, for example 112*.
  3. Add codes to Except to leave them out.
  4. Select Save.

To skip typing codes, select Metro areas or Remote areas under the fields and pick an area. Its codes are added for you.

Limit to cities

  1. Under Limit to (optional), choose Cities.
  2. Enter city names in Include, separated by commas. Leave Include empty for the whole country.
  3. Add cities to Except to leave them out.
  4. Select Save.

Limit to a distance from a store

  1. Under Limit to (optional), choose Distance from a store.
  2. Enter the distance after Within and choose the store after of.
  3. Select Save.

Distance is a straight line from the store’s map pin. If the store has no pin, set it in Settings, then Locations and map pins.

Limit to an area on a map

  1. Under Limit to (optional), choose Area on a map.
  2. Draw the area: click to add points, then click the first point to close the shape. To edit it, switch to Edit and drag a point or the shape.
  3. Or select Import from file and upload a GeoJSON file under 1 MB.
  4. Select Save.

Drawing needs a Google Maps key. If the app asks for one, select Set up, or import a file instead.

Delete a zone

  1. Open the zone and select Delete zone.
  2. Check which rates are deleted with it, then confirm.

You can undo this until you publish.

Troubleshooting

  • The zone shows Approximate: distance is measured to the centre of the postal code, not the exact address. Customers near the edge may see the next price.
  • Two zones overlap: Review your changes shows it under Worth checking. Customers there may see both zones’ rates.
