Each rate has a price and, optionally, conditions that decide when it shows. Use them to charge by weight or cart total, or to make shipping free over an amount.
Set the price
- Go to Rates and select a rate, or select Add rate next to a zone, then Rate.
- Enter the Rate name customers see at checkout.
- Under Rate price, choose Price based on: Flat price, Cart total, Weight, Number of items, Distance, % of cart, Per package or Billable weight.
- For a price that changes with the cart, choose Tiers and enter where each tier starts under From and its Price. Select Add tier for more. Tiers go from smallest to largest.
- Or choose Base + increment to charge a Base price, then Add an amount Per each step Starting after a value.
- Select Save, then Review & publish to turn it on.
Make it free over an amount
- In Rate price, turn on Free over.
- Enter the cart total at which the rate becomes free.
- Select Save.
To keep some products from counting toward this amount, see product exceptions.
Show a rate only when conditions match
- In Conditions, select Add condition.
- Choose a condition, for example Cart subtotal, Cart weight, Cart quantity, Product tag, Collection, Customer tag, Address text or Day of the week, and set its value.
- Select Done.
- With more than one condition, choose Match: All of these or Any of these.
- Select Save.
A Customer tag condition matches logged-in customers. It needs no extra access to your customers.
Adjust the final price
- Open Modify price.
- Set a Handling fee, a Minimum price or Maximum price, or Rounding.
- Select Save.
Requirements
Some prices and conditions need Shopify’s calculated shipping, which comes with the Advanced or Plus plan, or any plan billed yearly. They’re marked needs calculated shipping in the lists, and the rate shows Needs calculated shipping. On other plans, choose another price, such as tiers or a flat price.
