How to Set Up the Bird Pickup & Delivery Widget
You'll have a fully functional delivery date picker on your Shopify store in 7 simple steps.
This guide shows you how to install the Bird Pickup & Delivery widget. You'll also configure your store's delivery and pickup options.
Step 1: Enable the Widget in Your Theme
Add the delivery date picker to your cart page.
- Go to your Bird App dashboard
- Navigate to Widget Placement
- Select your active theme
- Click Add Widget in theme
- Turn on Bird App's App Embed
- Verify the widget appears on your cart page

Step 2: Configure Your Store Schedule
Set up when customers can order delivery or pickup.
Same Schedule for All Locations
- Go to Pickup & Delivery section
- Go to Configure Availability
- Set your operating hours
- Configure preparation times
- Add blockout dates
- Save your settings

- Go to Configure Locations
- Select your location
- Select a delivery method
- Go to Configure Availability
- Set location-specific hours

Step 3: Set Up Shipping Options
Configure shipping zones and delivery options.
- Go to Shipping Settings
- Enable Standard Shipping and Manage Shipping Calendar (optional)
- Go to Configure Availability
- Set your operating hours
- Configure preparation times
- Add blockout dates

Step 4: Configure Product-Specific Settings
Customize delivery options for individual products.
Set Product Overrides
- Go to Product Overrides
- Select Schedule Override
- Select override applicability
- Select target state to act upon
- Set custom lead times
- Configure available dates
- Save changes to apply product specific settings
Configure Widget Visibility
- Go to Product Overrides
- Select Widget Visibility Override
- Choose preferred Control Visibility option
- Set restrictions for the preferred method
- Save settings
- Widget visibility rules are applied to selected products

Step 5: Set Up Delivery and Pickup Rates
Configure pricing for delivery and pickup services.
- Go to Bird Rates section
- Follow Rates Configuration wizard
- Configure pickup rates
- Set delivery fees

Step 6: Configure Notifications
Keep customers informed about their orders.
Enable Order Confirmation Emails
- Go to Notifications in Bird Settings
- Scroll to Customer Notifications
- Click Edit order confirmation email
- Edit the email template
- Test email delivery

- Select your primary language
- Click Edit on the language

Test Your Setup
Verify everything works correctly.
- Go to your store's cart page
- Add items to cart
- Select delivery or pickup date
- Complete a test order
- Check order confirmation
- Test order completes successfully with date/time selection
