Shipping Rates

Set up shipping zones and the rates customers pay for shipping in each one.

Shipping rates in Bird belong to a shipping zone: a set of countries and states. Customers see a zone’s rates at checkout when their address is inside it and the order meets the rate’s conditions.

Where to Set Shipping Rates

In the Bird app, go to Rates and scroll to the Shipping section. Select Configure shipping rates by Bird app. To use the shipping rates in Shopify Admin instead, select Run shipping rates through Shopify.

Create a Shipping Zone

1. Click Create a new zone.

1. Enter a Name for the zone. Bird adds “Zone” to the end of it.
2. Search for and tick each country the zone covers.

1. Under each country, tick the states or provinces to include. A country that has states needs at least one ticked.
2. Click Save.

To change a zone later, click Edit zone. Create a separate zone for each area that needs different rates.

Add Rates to a Zone

1. Click Add rate inside the zone.
2. Enter a Name. Customers see this at checkout.
3. Choose a condition in Based on and fill in its values.
4. Enter the Rate amount.
5. Click Save.

Price, Weight, and Selected day are the most common conditions for shipping. For example, to charge $10 for shipping on Monday to Friday and $15 on Saturday to Sunday, create two rates based on Selected day. For a rush shipping fee, use Urgency with Min Days 0 and Max Days 1 to charge extra when the customer picks today or tomorrow.
