How do I create time slots for pickup or delivery?

Updated June 3, 2026

Navigate to your Bird App settings and configure availability settings to set up time slots that match your business schedule.

The Bird Pickup & Delivery app gives you complete control over when customers can schedule their orders. Here’s how to create time slots:

1. Access Availability Settings Navigate to App Settings > Pickup & Delivery / Configure locations / Shipping. The exact location depends on whether you have the same schedule for all stores or different schedules for each location.

2. Choose Your Schedule Type Select Same Availability for All days (Mon to Sun) for a consistent schedule, or Custom Availability by days to set unique times for each day of the week.

3. Configure Time Slot Format Choose how customers will select their time:

  • Only Date: Customers select a date only
  • Date & time: Customers select a specific date and time
  • Date & time range: Customers select a date and time slot (e.g., 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM)
  • No Date & time: Disables the calendar completely

4. Set Order Limits Manage your capacity by limiting orders per day or per time slot. Once the limit is reached, that slot becomes unavailable. Follow the Store Pickup: Order Limits guide for detailed setup.

5. Configure Lead Times Set preparation times to prevent customers from selecting slots too soon. Enable Preparation Time in Bird Settings > Pickup & Delivery / Configure Locations. Use the Store Pickup: Preparation Time guide to set up lead times and cut-off times properly.

6. Block Unavailable Dates Block holidays or closed days from the calendar. Use the Blockout dates settings within availability configuration. See the Store Pickup: Blockout Dates guide for detailed instructions.

You’re Done! Use the Widget Preview option to see how time slots appear to customers after saving changes. For advanced setups, configure different schedules for specific products using Product Overrides through the Store Pickup: Product Override guide.
