Why do Apple Pay and Google Pay show no delivery rate?

Customers paying with Apple Pay or Google Pay may see no matching delivery rate, or Shopify’s general shipping error, even when their address is in your delivery area. One possible reason is that these wallets share only part of the address until the customer pays.
Why it can happen
- Before the customer confirms payment, Apple Pay and Google Pay share only the city, region and the first part of the postcode. The street address stays hidden.
- If your delivery rates or Revalidate delivery location postal code in checkout depend on the full postcode, the partial one doesn’t match.
- The full address only arrives after the customer pays.
Turn on fallback rates
- In the Bird app, go to Rates
- Scroll to Fallback rates
- If it says Fallback rates are Disabled, click Enable
- Choose Local delivery or Shipping as your fallback method
See Fallback Rates for how they work.
Turn off postcode revalidation
If customers still can’t check out:
- Go to Bird Settings > Validations > Postal code validation settings
- Uncheck Revalidate delivery location postal code in checkout (called Revalidate delivery location address in checkout if you deliver by distance)
- Click Save
With this off, Bird won’t show an error when the checkout postcode doesn’t match the one entered in the cart.
