How to Add Rates to Shopify POS Orders with Bird Pickup & Delivery

Add Bird Pickup & Delivery rates to orders directly in Shopify POS — charge customers accurately at the register for store pickup, local delivery, or shipping.

Requirements

  • Shopify POS Pro subscription (required to add rates in POS)
  • Bird Pickup & Delivery rates configured in your Bird app — see How to Control Pickup, Delivery & Shipping Rates
  • A shipping address on the order (required for shipping rates to appear)



How It Works

The rates shown in Shopify POS are pulled directly from your Bird Pickup & Delivery rate configuration.

Which Rates Engine to Use

Pickup, delivery, and shipping rates configured in Bird appear automatically in POS. Bird supports two rates engines — choose based on your store’s setup:

  1. Bird Rates (Recommended) — Supported on all Shopify plans (Basic and above). No additional setup required.
  2. Carrier Calculated Shipping (CCS) — A Shopify plan feature that must be enabled on your account. Use only if:
    • Your store has a large number of rates
    • Your store sells subscription products

Custom Rates

If a rate doesn’t appear automatically, tap Add custom rate at checkout and enter the name and amount manually. Useful for walk-in sales or one-off orders.

Add a Rate to a POS Order

Follow these steps to apply a pickup, delivery, or shipping rate to an order in Shopify POS.

  1. Open Shopify POS and build your customer’s cart as normal
  2. Tap the Ship all items tile in the POS interface
  3. Navigate to Cart
  4. Select an existing shipping address from the customer’s profile, or add a new shipping address
  5. Rates matching the order’s fulfillment conditions will load — select the appropriate rate
  6. If your required rate does not appear, tap Add custom rate and enter the rate name and amount manually
  7. Proceed to Checkout to complete the transaction

Note: The rates displayed match the fulfillment method selected when scheduling the order using the Bird: Schedule Order tile. For example, if you selected Shipping as the fulfillment method, your configured shipping rates will appear

Don’t see the Ship all items tile? Open Shopify POS App → Add Tile → Actions → Ship all items. This tile requires an active POS Pro plan.
