Subscription Apps: Overview
When a subscription app creates a renewal order, Bird moves that order’s delivery date forward by the subscription’s delivery interval. The first order keeps the date the customer picked at checkout. A weekly subscription moves forward 1 week, a monthly one 1 month.
Choose How to Connect Your App
| Your subscription app | How to connect | Bird plan |
|---|---|---|
| Recharge, Appstle, Loop or Seal | Connect it directly in Bird Settings > Integrations, on the Subscription tab | Scale |
| Any other app with a Shopify Flow renewal trigger | Build a Shopify Flow workflow with Bird’s Increment delivery date action | Growth |
On the Growth plan, you can use the Shopify Flow method for Appstle too.
Setup guides:
- Recharge Subscriptions
- Appstle Subscriptions
- Loop Subscriptions
- Seal Subscriptions
- Subscription Delivery Dates with Shopify Flow
Use one method per app. If you connect an app directly in Bird, turn off any Shopify Flow workflow for that app. Otherwise a renewal’s date can be moved twice.
Set Up Rates for Subscription Orders
Subscription apps need Bird Rates with CCS (carrier-calculated shipping). At checkout, Shopify only accepts the single cheapest rate for a subscription order, and without CCS it sometimes shows an error instead of a price. See Bird Rates vs CCS Rates.
If customers see “Shipping not available” with subscription products in the cart, see Rate Errors at Checkout.
