Bird Pickup & Delivery: Full App Setup Guide

You’ll have a fully functional app on your Shopify store in 7 simple steps.

This guide shows you how to install the Bird Pickup & Delivery widget. You’ll also configure your store’s delivery and pickup options.

Step 1: Enable the Widget in Your Theme

Add the delivery date picker to your cart page.

  1. Go to your Bird App dashboard
  2. Navigate to Widget Placement
  3. Select your active theme
  4. Click Add Widget in theme
  5. Turn on Bird App’s App Embed
  6. Verify the widget appears on your cart page

Step 2: Configure Your Store Schedule

Set up when customers can order delivery or pickup.

Different Schedules for Different Locations

  1. Go to Configure Locations
  2. Select your location
  3. Select a fulfillment method
  4. Go to Configure Availability
  5. Set location-specific hours
  6. Configure individual preparation times
  7. Add location blockout dates
  8. Each location has its own schedule configured

Step 3: Set Up Shipping Options

Configure shipping calendar and availability settings.

  1. Go to Shipping Settings
  2. Enable Standard Shipping and Manage Shipping Calendar (optional)
  3. Go to Configure Availability
  4. Set your operating hours
  5. Configure preparation times
  6. Add blockout dates
  7. Shipping calendar is configured and active

Step 4: Configure Product-Specific Settings

Customize delivery, pickup or shipping schedule for specific products.

Set Product Overrides

  1. Go to Product Overrides
  2. Click Add Override
  3. Select override applicability
  4. Set product tags or SKU patterns to target
  5. Set custom lead times
  6. Configure available dates
  7. Save changes to apply product specific settings

Show/Hide Widget for Specific Products Only

  1. Go to Widget Visibility
  2. Select Conditionally show the widget
  3. Choose preferred Control Visibility option
  4. Set product or customer targeting and pick a Visibility rule
  5. Save settings
  6. Widget visibility rules are applied to selected products

Step 5: Set Up Delivery and Pickup Rates

Configure pricing for delivery and pickup fulfillment methods.

  1. Go to Bird Rates section
  2. Follow Rates Configuration wizard
  3. Configure pickup rates
  4. Set delivery fees
  5. Accept terms and conditions to activate rates
  6. Your delivery and pickup rates are configured and active

Step 6: Configure Notifications

Keep customers informed about their orders.

Enable Order Confirmation Emails

  1. Go to Notifications in Bird Settings
  2. Scroll to Customer Notifications
  3. Click Edit order confirmation email
  4. Edit the email template
  5. Test email delivery
  6. Order confirmation emails include delivery dates and times

Configure Packing Slips

  1. Go to Order Management
  2. Scroll to Order notes and fulfillment
  3. Enable Append date/time to order note

Step 7: Customize the Widget Design

Match the widget to your store’s branding.

  1. Go to Widget Design
  2. Adjust colors and styles
  3. Perform advanced modification using CSS
  4. Preview changes
  5. Widget design matches your store’s branding

Configure Language

  1. Go to Text and Languages
  2. Select your primary language
  3. Click Edit on the language
  4. Customize language
  5. Widget displays in your preferred language

Test Your Setup

Verify everything works correctly.

  1. Go to your store’s cart page
  2. Add items to cart
  3. Select delivery or pickup date
  4. Complete a test order
  5. Check order confirmation
  6. Test order completes successfully with date/time selection
