Trexity is a same-day local delivery service for independent retailers in the US and Canada. Connect your Trexity account to Bird and delivery orders are priced at checkout and dispatched to Trexity.

For help with Trexity pricing, coverage, or anything about your Trexity account, contact the Trexity team.

Requirements

  1. A Trexity account and API key
  2. A store with pickup locations in the US or Canada
  3. Bird’s Essential plan or higher
  4. Multi-location turned on in Bird
  5. Local Delivery set up, with delivery days and time slots
  6. A complete street address, city and country on every location Trexity collects from

Connect Trexity

  1. Go to Bird Settings > Integrations and open the Last Mile Delivery tab.
  2. Find Trexity and open it.
  3. Enter your API key and click Connect.

Bird checks the key with Trexity and sets up status updates for you, so there’s nothing to copy into Trexity. If the key belongs to a Trexity test account, a Test badge shows next to Connected. The remaining settings appear once you’re connected.

Notification emails

Add the emails to alert if Bird can’t schedule a delivery with Trexity. Separate them with commas.

You’re only emailed when a delivery can’t be scheduled. Temporary problems are retried automatically.

Default Service Level

Choose how Trexity books each delivery.

💡
Service level What happens
Same Day (default) Trexity collects at the start of the customer’s time slot. Your delivery slots need to match your Trexity pickup windows.
Direct Trexity’s direct service. Trexity collects at the start of the customer’s time slot.
Next Day Trexity collects in your city’s fixed next-day pickup window. If no Next Day window fits the customer’s slot, the delivery isn’t booked.
Draft Bird creates an undated draft in Trexity. You schedule it yourself in your Trexity dashboard.

If Trexity rejects Same Day for your city, switch to Direct.

Locations

  • Tick the locations Trexity delivers for. You don’t have to tick them all.
  • Add a Contact name and Contact phone to every ticked location.

A location can only use one courier. Locations already set up with another courier are greyed out.

Some Trexity accounts only accept pickups from addresses registered with Trexity. If deliveries fail with an unserviceable pickup address, ask Trexity to add the location.

Order fulfillment

  • Tick Fulfill order in Shopify when Trexity delivery job is created to mark orders fulfilled and attach Trexity tracking.
  • Tick Send fulfillment notification to customer to email that tracking to the customer.
  • Leave both off to fulfill orders yourself.

Packaging

Choose a Default package size: Small, Medium or Large. Choose Not specified to send orders without a size or weight.

To use a different size for heavier orders, click Add rule and set a Min weight, Max weight (in kg) and the package to use. Orders over about 15.9 kg (35 lb) are split into several labels automatically.

Configure Trexity delivery rates

Want Trexity’s own rate, not a flat Bird rate, to show at checkout? Here’s how.

Limitation: This requires Shopify’s Carrier-Calculated Shipping (CCS), which lets Shopify show a live rate at checkout. Without CCS, Trexity’s price can never reach checkout, however Trexity itself is set up.

  1. Turn on Bird Rates with CCS under Bird Settings > Rates > Rates engine. You need CCS on your Shopify plan. See Shopify’s carrier-calculated shipping documentation.
  2. Under Rates, turn on Enable Trexity rates. Until CCS is on, this toggle stays disabled.
  3. Set the Rate name and Rate description your customers see at checkout.
  4. Optionally, turn on Free delivery above a Minimum order value, and add a Handling fee (a percentage, a flat amount, or both) on top of Trexity’s quote.

A live Trexity rate replaces your static delivery rates for those locations. If Trexity can’t quote, no rate shows.

Click Save.

Dispatching an order

  1. The customer picks a delivery date and time, and sees the Trexity rate.
  2. Mark the order Dispatched in Bird. This is what sends it to Trexity. Creating the order does not.
  3. Bird sends the customer’s name, phone, email, address and order note to Trexity, booked by your Default Service Level.
  4. Bird stores the Trexity tracking link on the order, and fulfills it in Shopify if you turned that on.

Disconnect Trexity

  1. Go to Bird Settings > Integrations and open the Last Mile Delivery tab.
  2. Find Trexity and open it.
  3. Click Disconnect and confirm.

Bird stops quoting and dispatching right away. Deliveries already with Trexity are unaffected.

Notes

  • Cancelling an order in Shopify cancels the Trexity delivery if it was already dispatched. Refunds and status changes in Bird don’t cancel it.
  • Editing an order after dispatch does not update it at Trexity. Make the change directly in your Trexity account.

Troubleshooting

No Trexity rate at checkout. Confirm:

  • Enable Trexity rates and Bird Rates with CCS are both on (see Configure Trexity delivery rates above)
  • The location is ticked and has a contact name and phone
  • The location is in the US or Canada

Deliveries fail with Next Day. No Next Day pickup window in your city fits the customer’s slot. Use Same Day or Direct instead.

Nothing reached Trexity. Check your notification emails. Bird emails the reason when a dispatch fails, usually a bad drop-off address, an unserviceable pickup address or a rejected API key. If there is no email, confirm the order was marked Dispatched in Bird.
