Updated September 1, 2026

UniHop is an on-demand courier platform covering the United States and parts of Canada. Connect your UniHop account to Bird and delivery orders are priced at checkout and dispatched to a UniHop courier automatically.

For help with UniHop pricing, alcohol or tobacco shipments, oversized vehicles, or anything about your UniHop account, contact the UniHop support team.

Requirements

  • An active UniHop account and API key.
  • A store in the United States or Canada. Confirm your city with UniHop.
  • Multiple locations enabled in Bird.
  • Local Delivery set up, with delivery days and time slots.
  • A complete address on every location UniHop collects from.

Connect UniHop

  1. Click Settings, then Integrations.
  2. Find UniHop and open it.
  3. Enter your UniHop API Key and click Connect.

Bird verifies the key with UniHop. The remaining settings appear once you’re connected.

Configure settings

Notification emails

Add the emails to alert if Bird can’t schedule a delivery. Separate them with commas.

You’re only emailed when a failure is final. Timeouts and outages are retried quietly.

Locations

  • Tick the locations UniHop delivers for. You don’t have to tick them all.
  • Add a contact name and contact phone to every ticked location.
  • The phone is required. UniHop rejects deliveries with no pickup phone number.

Order fulfillment

  • Tick Fulfill order in Shopify when UniHop delivery job is created to mark orders fulfilled and attach UniHop tracking.
  • Tick Send fulfillment notification to customer to email that tracking to the customer.
  • Leave both off to fulfill orders yourself.

Packaging

  • Choose a default package size, from Envelope to Large Cargo.
  • Add weight-based rules to switch package size above a given weight.
  • UniHop dimensions are in inches, weights in pounds.
  • Bird sends the order’s real weight, so keep your Shopify product weights accurate.

Rates

  • Tick Enable UniHop rates to price each delivery live at checkout.
  • Set the rate name and description your customers see.
  • Offer free delivery above a minimum order value.
  • Add a percentage or flat handling fee on top of UniHop’s quote.

A live UniHop rate replaces your static delivery rates for those locations. If UniHop can’t quote, no rate shows.

Click Save.

Dispatching an order

  1. The customer picks a delivery date and time, and sees the UniHop rate.
  2. Mark the order Out for delivery in Bird. This is what sends it to UniHop — creating the order does not.
  3. Bird stores the tracking link on the order, and fulfills it in Shopify if you enabled that.
  4. Statuses update as the courier moves: out for delivery, then delivered, failed, or cancelled.

Disconnect UniHop

  1. Click Settings, then Integrations.
  2. Find UniHop and open it.
  3. Click Disconnect and confirm.

Bird stops quoting and dispatching right away. Deliveries already with UniHop are unaffected.

Notes

  • Cancelling an order in Shopify cancels the UniHop delivery.
  • Marking the same order out for delivery twice won’t create a second delivery.
  • Editing an order after dispatch does not update it at UniHop. Change it there, or cancel and re-dispatch.

Troubleshooting

No UniHop rate at checkout. Check that Enable UniHop rates is ticked, the location is ticked, it has a contact phone, multiple locations are enabled, and the address is inside UniHop’s coverage.

A delivery failed to schedule. Bird emails the reason to your notification emails. Usually a bad drop-off address, a missing phone, or a revoked API key.

Nothing reached UniHop. Confirm the order was marked Out for delivery in Bird.
